We live in a time where everything competes for our undivided attention. We are constantly distracted and we are consistently forced to accept two incoherent things as true, such as Super Bowls and air raids. Everyday, we are presented with harmony wrapped in a corporate bow and disharmony swept under a live, laugh, love doormat. As our existence becomes more confusing and more controversial, we find it necessary to reconcile both harmony and disharmony in order to rise and meet the challenges of tomorrow.
In this issue, creators from around the world have provided a tableau of the modern condition. They take us to fantastical worlds of monetized smells and colorful static, worlds filled with HyperForests and plastic domesticity where the sounds of Bluetooth tocsins drown out early morning chirps, worlds where we feverishly dig for ancient roots that are dying for a lack of water. These are only a few of the vistas offered within the pages of this magazine.
