Description

Swallowed fingers, gummy hours, choking on screens, collect your self.

In Sticky Time’s visceral, synesthetic poems, our speaker chronicles her quest for stability during a year of emotional and physical scattering. Ripe with surreal language and grotesque images, the poems toy with metaphysical questions concerning the nature of time, psychosomatics, technology, and conflicting visions of self. A full spin through the organs and the instants.

Praise for Sticky Time

“I feel real when I read Moreno. Brutal, thoughtful, hypnotically inspiring. A must-read for poets, for people, for anyone with a body and any amount of time. If Clarice Lispector had written poetry, we’d still be reading Alex Moreno.”
– Katja Grober

“Like a play where the body is a stage, Sticky Time is alive with the visceral flux of language. These are effervescent poems, lush with corporeal decadence. A delight to read all at once or piecemeal.”
– Paasha Motamedi

“Alex’s poems make me want to throw my phone in a river and melt into cozy, messy life. Her Time is juicy, psychedelic, and smoldering. There’s much to be smitten about.
– Emma Gardner, playwright, Bimbo Tennis

“Sticky Time explores the beauty and confines of existing in the form of a body, all the while escaping the parameters and limitations of time. The question is not how, it is when, and maybe where—you’ll find the answers inside, woven with humor and transcending conventions.“
– Claire Richards, multimedia artist & co-curator of Word Art
